The Truth

"The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie - deliberate, contrived and dishonest - but the myth, persistent persuasive and unrealistic." - John F. Kennedy

Pilate asked Jesus, "What is truth?" Isn't that one of the questions that we all must answer in our lifetime. In todays relative society everyone is encouraged to believe whatever they want to. A phrase, "That's your truth, my truth is different" is a common saying. It promotes the thought that truth is whatever you want it to be. That there is no absolute. However truth does exist. We can't pretend that 2 +2 = 5 just because we would like to believe that it does. To think as modern society does causes more harm than we realize. Not only do individuals believe what is comfortable. Because of the belief in relativism many people stop searching for the truth and the self improvement and social, emotional, and spiritual striving that the truth calls for. The truth, standing alone, and

calls to us. It is a beacon that we cannot ignore or deny. We can close our eyes, use distractions, and argue with the truth, but it stands and shines. Last night, at Bible study, we were presented with the other important question of our lifetime. After the question, "What is truth?" it is the only important question we need to answer. It is a question posed by Jesus to the disciples. The question is, "Who do you say I am?"
